I have an economy car and there is no light up front to use for reading maps or directions. The overhead light works, but it is fairly far away for my 55 yr. old eyes to read the map! I just stuck the Pop-up light to the side of the dashboard and I pop it up when I need to read the map and push it down when I don't need it. It's not in the way at all and it works great!
